Being Thankful

Posted by Laura Losch on November 25, 2008

It’s that time of year when we all stop and think about what we’re thankful for (Thanksgiving Day). Why do we only do this one day a year? I really don’t know, but there is so much to be thankful for. Start off this season by being thankful for your teachers. Many of your teachers at South Hall Middle work hard all year (and even the summer!) to create fun, new, and exciting lessons for you to learn. Take today for instance – Ms. Schollaert and Ms. McKinney were in the media center today doing a simulation of visiting Europe before and after the formation of the European Union. What a cool way to learn about the impact the formation of the European Union had on travel! And it was fun flying like a plane I must say.

Of course we should be thankful for our family and friends. That’s one that we should be thankful for all year long. Where would you be without support from family members and friends?

Another category of people I think we should be thankful for are our administrators. Isn’t it great having Mrs. Stubbs, Mr. Townley, and Mr. Millwood available to talk to during the day? Or help out when needed? Or just to give you that extra pat on the back you need? They do great things for our school and we should be thankful.

I am personally thankful for the awesome students we have at South Hall Middle. My Reading Bowl Team (Anna, Clarissa, Brittanie, Dilan, Adam, Victor, Caitlin, Ashley, Truc, Marissa). I am also thankful for those students who enjoy coming to the library everyday and who share in my love of reading (Cory H., Bridgette, Makayla, Brandon G., Allen S., Dylan L., and so many more. . . .).

I hope everyone has a wonderful Thanksgiving. A holiday that’s truely an American one (maybe we should be thankful for that!). We checked out lots of books over the last two days, so maybe while your baby sister is screaming at your cousin, your Mom is burning the turkey, and your Dad is watching football, you can take 30 minutes time to yourself and read a little. Any book will do! Happy Thanksgiving!
